Sometimes time passes too quickly… and that’s when round-robin updates are perfect! Here are updates on the five most popular categories on the blog to give you a little insight into what I’m doing, how I’m doing it, and whether it’s worth it or not (it is):
I’ve been Paleo AIP for a while now, but I always had a few vices I could never quite give up, even if I avoided them most of the time. Those things I never wanted to admit were on the AIP no-no list? Coffee and chocolate. I am now three weeks STRONG sans caffeine, coffee, and chocolate.
Yes, I am a super-woman.
Or, just very, very desperate. The saddest news of all? I feel GREAT. I nibbled some white chocolate and quickly got a bad headache. I haven’t been tempted enough to try coffee, but I’m pretty sure it would give me the same reaction.
I’ve also been hot on the trail of TH1/TH2 intolerance, how my autoimmune condition affects my hormones, and weight-loss. I’m officially down 40 pounds, which is awesome, but more than anything I love feeling free of the restrictions and hurtful self-deprecation that comes with obsessing about weight. I eat as much as I want of nutritious, delicious foods, and I exercise gently and daily by walking around or stretching. No calorie counting, no beating myself up, no none of that crap that guided much of my teens and 20s. Just eat good food, y’all!
Freelancing is in full swing. I really do this for a living, guys! Though I’ve found myself in the “computer trance” more than once this past week, so I know it’s time to change it up by working outside the home and taking a day off some time soon. I also picked up some nerdy computer glasses that are the real deal and make the computer screen less painful to stare at.
Business-wise, I’m relieved and slightly surprised to share that things really are going well. There were a few Oh my gosh, how will I get this done? moments, but then I just buckled down and, you know, did it. And then it wasn’t as scary as I thought it was. Is that professional growth? I think so.
And though I’ll still write about it, I am moving away from providing social media services in favor of something I love far, far more: copywriting. It pays better, it’s more highly valued, and I love doing it. Three wins to me!
I’m doing great on my reading goals, having finished The Art of Possibility and Anna Karenina. Both have been surprisingly awesome and have come to me at a great time.
I also started re-reading Women, Food, and God, and it’s just as good as I remember. If you’re female and you’ve ever tried to lose, gain, or ignore your weight, this book was written for you.
Semi-related to career, our personal finance boat is finally starting to right itself. We made it through the first few months as I worked to grasp what I was good at and what people will pay for, and I’ve really zeroed in on the overlap.
As the checks come in, we’re slowly building up our savings, becoming less worried about paying rent, and in general feeling more light. Nailing down some life insurance? That’s the cherry on top of my financial worries and will happen in the next few weeks. Holler back , being consistent and loving what I do!
Have you caught JHubb’s and my new comic strip series? It posts on Saturdays at noon and they’re kind of awesome. It’s half non-sequitors, half JHubbs humor, and half my daily doodles. It’s 150 percent awesome.
