Writing is hard work, whether you doing it alone, on a blog, or for a newspaper. I learned early on that I needed a way to fight the sometimes-bipolar sensation that you’re nothing, that you should give up, that no one is listening.
So, I started a list about two years ago. And I put small accomplishments on it that I was proud of. As embarrassing as it would be to post the whole thing (I’m kind of a nerd), here are some highlights about what keeps me going:
1. Hitting 10,000 views.
3. Guest posts on Get Rich Slowly, Words of Williams, and Witty Title Here.
7. My first Brazen Life Byline. And the subsequent ones.
10. Hitting 30,000 views.
13. Interview with the NY Times.
The list goes on, though I forget to update it with the simple accomplishments. And when I’m having a really rough day, or even a good day but I forget why I’m trying to build this amazing thing, I take a look and appreciate how far I’ve come.
