While we dated long-distance, JHubbs and I had a very special ritual for keeping in touch — most Thursdays we would pack ourselves up after a day of teaching and meet in a town between us (about an hour’s drive for us both) for chicken wings.
Don’t ask me why it had to be chicken wings – I had to adapt to some of his tastes!
Two months after getting a new job and moving back to my hometown, JHubbs brought our Thursday night chicken wings over and inside one of them was a diamond ring. We had a very special, private moment, and began a nine month long engagement.
Gussied up and newly married, we hit Target for some red licorice and chocolate before the night ended. We had our own thing going and that thing was marvelous!
Our first year together has been all I could ask for. We’ve had ups and downs in our lives (both medical and emotional), but I am so thankful to be married to the most positive, most hilarious, and most endearing person I have ever met and thankful that he loves me right back.
